What have we been up to??

So these pictures are in no particular order so just random stuff. We have been busy the last couple of weeks. We were in Ohio for a week for a little break and to see my sister Kristy get married. It was a beautiful wedding and we had a great time!! While there we drove ALOT, but we got to see a lot of good friends who we miss dearly. The trip was good, but we were glad to be home and out of the car at the end of the week.

Jacob is gone again for another 10 days, so Elijah and I are hanging out again. Before Jacob left we took videos of him reading a few stories so we can have "Story Time With Dad" (as he has started calling it) every night with Elijah.

So now for random pictures!!

We have been having some awesome weather lately so we decided to see if Elijah likes swimming as much as baths and no such luck!!

Although he is not happy we think the picture is pretty funny! He is so cute. We have looked everywhere for swimming diapers to fit him but no luck, they don't make them that small.

We tried and tried but he wasn't having it so we will tray again another day when it's nice.

Elijah has been holding his head up so well we decided to try out the Bumbo seat and he loves it.

I was taking some pictures to send to Jacob today and these were so cute I had to show everyone. I just made his shirt today and I am loving it, it turned out really cute. Plus my model is pretty handsome so that always helps!!

So yesterday all he wanted to do was stand. So I leaned him up against the couch and he was loving it. He stood long enough to get two pictures, crazy. I think he wants to walk! He looks so big, I can't believe it.

Two Months

I can't believe it has been two months already! Elijah is getting bigger by the day, he now weighs 9.6 and is 24 inches tall. We are in a weird place with clothes right now. Newborns are getting to small but the 0-3 are to big! We have been having lots of fun. We started going to reading time at the library, lots of walks with the dog, reading books, and playing. He has started to smile more and it makes me laugh cause its soo cute!! Here are a few random photos our little dude!!

One Handsome Fella

Its been just over three weeks since our lives changed. We have loved and cherished each moment. Elijah has brought a whole new meaning into our world and a great spirit into our home. We have realized that he is still so close to his Heavenly Father, when we are down stairs in our family room, he is always looking at the picture of the temple and sometimes smiling! We are truly blessed to have this little guy in our family.

Elijah is one lucky boy!!!!

When I first found out I was pregnant, I asked my Dad to make a changing table for us. The response I got was a chuckle! The last thing I remember him making were desks when we were a lot younger. I knew he enjoyed wood working, but rarely had the time to do it since he works so hard. Dad accepted the challenge and I think it turned out AWESOME. While Grandma Margaret was here she finished off the table with a changing pad. In theory we thought it would be pretty simple...we were WRONG. It's done and it fits and that's all that matters!! Jacob and I love it and we are sure Elijah will too. Thank You Grandpappy and Grandma for all your hard work. We Love You.

Jacob and I were lucky enough to take a short trip to my sister Jennifer's over the past weekend. While we were there we were supermodels, at least we felt like it. We had LOTS of photos taken of the baby belly bump. When we were all done we looked through all the photos and I loved so many of them, how do you choose!! Well then she posted some on her blog and they look amazing. I think I will just let her choose the ones, cause it's obvious she has an amazing eye!!!

I wanted to share these two pictures with you. I went to the hospital one day because I wasn't feeling the baby move at all. I was really nervous and scared. I couldn't get a hold of Jacob so I was there by myself, but everything turned out to be okay. They said the baby looks really great and that he or she was making a sucking motion, which I got to see, and that is a sign for a healthy baby!! They gave me this awesome picture, it is one of the best ones we have been given.

I am still saying a boy and Jacob is convinced it is still a girl, so that hasn't changed. Jacob feel in love instantly all over again, when he saw this cute little face!!

November Nor'Easter

So after having rain here since Tuesday it has finally gone away!! Thank goodness, I didn't know if I would be able to handle anymore of it. Wanted to let everyone share in the joy we experienced in the last few days. It started just like a rain storm, but ended up getting really scary near the end.

Jacob woke up Thursday morning to go to work like normal, only to come back upstairs to wake me up and tell me our front door was blown open during the night and the couch and the table and floor was SOAKED. He got the hair dryer and tried to dry things up as best he could but eventually had to go to work. When I woke I saw water pooling on the side of the house which is normal for some rain. Later in the day Jacob came home and by the time he got here our parking lot was flooded, again, pretty normal. Well as it got close to high tide that is when things really started getting bad.

Water rose about 6 inches in about 30 minutes. It was getting so high because the waves were crashing into the sea wall but with the wind as strong as it was it, was just causing water to pour down the other side of the wall onto out yard. It was crazy. Here is a funny video we took earlier in the day when we didn't really think the storm was really a threat.

I will tell you that I did feel truly blessed because we had our power through the whole thing. There were 170,000 people without power so I do consider us lucky.

So if the storm wasn't bad enough, we had to deal with the wonderful military housing!! All but two of our windows in the whole house were leaking water, so we had to keep changing out the towels, which could have been the reason we still had power!! I had to put the towels through the spin cycle before I could put them in the dryer, they were so wet. We had to wake up during the night to change them out they were leaking so bad.

So I thought this is okay I can handle it, well then I went into the spare bedroom that has all my scrapbooking stuff, our baby stuff, camping stuff yeah like our personal storage shed, and there was water puddled in the middle. We couldn't figure where it was coming from until we looked up!!!! Yes we had water dripping down the walls and a spot on the ceiling that was leaking. Could we get any luckier!! OF COURSE. The same thing happened in our bedroom!! The downstairs closet is the only room in our house that didn't have water!!!!

So that was our awesome adventure for this month, we will have to see what next month holds for us!!!! Here are some pictures I took this morning, but the water had gone down already so you can't get the whole effect, sorry!!!

Our front walk

A view out the back door!! Last night I had to walk through this to get to the car to move it and it was almost up to my knees in some areas.

A closer picture of the car, the water level was up a little higher where you couldn't see the hubcap on the front tire.

Here is another one of the front. The water rose over that first step by about three inches, so you can see that the water went down pretty good. PHEW!!

This is the lake in between our house and the neighbors!!!

This is the only picture from last night that came out, it was hard to walk because you could barely see the walk. We went to check on our neighbor a few times because her husband wasn't home and they have a toddler in the house. I lost a pair of sandals trying to walk through this, with the wind making the water move pretty good I took a step and off it went!

Good News

Wanted to put this one on here for people to see and give an update on the pregnancy!! I think I have finally gotten over the morning sickness or in my case the 24 hour sickness. It was terrible in the beginning, but now things are looking up!! I still have times when I don't feel all that great but nothing like before. I have figured out if I eat every two hours I don't feel so bad and if I miss a meal I feel it.

When we went for this ultrasound the doctor said the baby was moving a lot and could barely get a good picture which could have been part of the problem and why I was feeling sick a lot. I can say that I am glad to hear the baby was healthy and things are looking good.

We haven't scheduled our next ultrasound the hospital is going to call us and schedule that, so if in fact we decide to find out what we are having, we should know in the next 2 to 6 weeks!! Jacob is still wanting to find out and I am undecided. I will have to decide before we go I guess.

Other than that good news, we have a little more good news. We had to put in a written request to get a larger house here on base and we were approved for a three bedroom, which is GREAT. We will still be living in the same housing we are now just moving to a little bit bigger place. They can't tell us when we will be able to move, just that we are on the list for a three bedroom and we could get anywhere from two weeks to a months notice and then we have three days to move. That will be fun for Jacob since, I can't really do much. I can pack the boxes and stuff but no heavy lifting like I was able to do the last time we moved. Maybe its a blessing!!!! Im tired of moving already.

Evening out the Score

Yep that is right we will no longer be outnumbered by pets we will be evening out the score sometime in late February!!!

I do have pictures of an early ultra sound but haven't got them online yet. So as of this Friday I am 9 weeks. It has been tough so far with morning sickness and not feeling well ALL the time. I am tired all the time, but work around it. I am pretty religious at taking about a two hour nap everyday so that is pretty nice. Jacob has been really FANTASTIC taking good care of me. I will try to be better now in keeping up with the blog to keep everyone up todate on whats going on. NO promises though.

Jacob's trip to the Bay

This is a video that Jacob took for me while out to see. It it supposed to mean good luck for the ship. The video was cool and of course very pretty.

Playing Catch Up

Okay... Okay...OKAY

Here it is FINALLY. I know I am super terrible at this but here it is at least. First let me post the pictures from our Sealing. Jacob and I went to DC in November to be sealed together and we were lucky to have a lot of family and friends there to share with us. Here are some pictures of the wonderful day we had.

We had a great day and luckily for us the rain stopped just long enough to come outside and have pictures taken.

We aren't very good at serious pictures. Every now and again you might get a few!!!

We are glad we were able to share this day with Family and Friends and want to thank you all for coming. Better late than never on getting the pictures up, I know!!!

The weather

I just wanted to post this video cause this is the view out my window right now and most of the day as well. We are just having high winds right now but thats all. Normally the water is pretty calm but the last few days we have been having this. The water is higher than normal and is supposed to get another 8-10 inches higher when the tide comes in later today!! Fun right!!

Great Falls

After our trip to D.C. we had the chance to go see Great Falls, which was cool.

We started our day in D.C. with a ride on the Metro. All part of the experience!

We walked around the city and it was great exercise but even better to see everything. We owe Melissa and Evan becuase they were our tour guides and we couldn't have had better!!! Thanks again guys you are AWESOME!!!! We walked up to Lincoln and he was HUGE!!! It was really cool. There were a lot of people but we still managed to get some really good pictures!!! Here we are on the stairs of the Lincoln Memorial getting the typical tourist picture!!! The guard leaning on the rail, his job is to make sure no one slides down it!!!

Fishing

I also wanted to post some pictures of our fishing experience. It was awsome!!! We had such a great time. Our neighbor had a BBQ so we hung out with them for most of the day and then they went fishing and invited us as well. So here are some awesome pictures of us looking like we know what we are doing!!!

We threw most of the fish back because they were big enough to eat, but Jacob took one of the fish I caught and chopped it up for bait. EWWWW. He was a trooper though he just dove right in and chopped it up!!

We had a great time and we are thinking about buying some fishing poles. Some of our neighbors fish like every night and EVERY WEEKEND so they told us to come on out whenever. They were helping us a lot since we didn't really know what we were doing!!! One of the guys told me they make pink fishing poles so you can bet that is what I will have!!!

Moved

So when I said a lot has happened the next thing was we moved. We were in Newport News, but we left there for an apartment right on the ocean. We moved to Fort Monroe, which yes is closing but by the time that happens we will be gone. I can say the outside of the houses don't look all the good but it is home!! The inside is nice and the rent is outstanding so we don't complain. The best part is how close we are to the ocean!!! Our view out our bedroom window is the ocean.
This is the outside of our house. Not very nice I know, but like I said inside is nice. The houses are really old I guess about 50 years. I don't think they have had ANY facelifts since then either!!!
So this is our view!!! When you walk out the front door you have to walk across the little grass you see and up a little sea wall and this is what you see. So it takes us about a minute to get to the ocean and two minutes to get to the beach!!
Just some more of our views. We are still getting settled in here but we have already been to the beach a few times with our dogs.

Dolly will follow me into the water and is getting used to it but is still a little nervous about it!!

And Dash is perfectly content on keeping his feet dry in the sand!!! He will get in the water and swim around but would rather saty on the beach!!

Vacation

It has been a long time since I blogged. A lot has happened. Let me start with our vacation!! We went camping at Sliding Rock. As a kid my family went there a few times so it was fun to go back.

This is my niece, Jacob and I drove her down there and it was a good drive. She is so cute and she did really well in the car. So she was sleeping peacefully!!!

We took a little time and enjoyed some of the many waterfalls near where we stayed.
Dad and my other niece enjoying their turn down the rock. We all had a great time at the rock.

This was our favorite we thought it was so pretty, I believe Dad said it was the tallest waterfall East of the Mississippi. I hope that is right if not I apologize!! If I'm right then see Dad I still listen!!! JK LOVE YOU!!!

After we were left camping we went to my dads house in South Carolina and we had a great time there. I had to post this because I thought it was so cute. This is my niece Autumn playing in the sprinkler and singing at the top of her lungs. It was to cute not to record!!

So needless to say we had a great vacation. Hopefully we will be able to do it again next year.

Dash is such a little baby he is scared of just about everything that makes loud noises. Jacob decided to clean the house today and when he got the vacuum Dash went crazy. We thought it was funny!!!!

Play Time

We don't have much room to play but we use all the space we do have to run aaround and play, we will run in between our front room and our kitchen.

Dash is fun to play with cause he will run around all crazy and then crawl up in the corner of the couch and wait for us to come get him. Then he will lunge off the couch and start running around again.

Daisy can't have play time right now because the poor little girl went into heat. So she gets to wear the lovely diapers around until she is finished. She got pretty smart though and she would rub the side of her body on the stairs to wiggle out of the diaper. She will walk beside the stairs and rub her butt against it and then turn around and do the other side until the diaper comes off. She is sneaky so we had to outsmart her again and tape the diaper on her and she hasn't figured that one out yet!!!!
Mama taking good care of Daisy and spending quality time with the little one!!!!! She really just sleeps a lot right now but they say it is normal.

Dolly is very easily entertained!!! She will seriously do this for hours if I had the time to do it. I think we need to build something to keep her occupied like this. She would sleep much better at night I think!!!

A little History!!

While the weather was nice I decided to have our date night outside. I was trying to find something fun and cheap to do. I found the coolest place like five miles from here. It's called the President's Park. Here are some pictures of us together on Date night.

They had statues for each president and two or three boards with a short biography and then some with some interesting facts.

They each had a little walkway up to each president each was well kept and the it was so peaceful.
Me and George stoping for a picture!!! The place they had was almost full so we were asking if they were going to continue to expand and they said they had land already set aside for the future presidents.
These statues were 17 - 19 feet tall. They are built with a steel frame and then cement is poured over and carved out.
They had a replica of Air Force One. It wasn't as cool as I thought it was really small but hey overall we had a great time!!! Well worth the 10 minute drive!!!!!!!!!!!!! They had a replica of the oval office but just to take a picture it was five dollars, for another five you could sit behind the desk.

We had a great time and Jacob once again got out of planning our date. He is really lucking out but he said he was going to plan the next one!!! We will see!!

Fun with the dogs

I just wanted to post some pictures of our little family, as much as Jacob complains about Daisy and her whining he really does love her if you can't tell. Well, here he is with his little girl!!

They really enjoy their time together if you can't tell!!

Aren't they SWEET!! For some reason the dogs thought there was something good in the laundry I'm not sure what they were after but we had to coax them out I know that!!!!

Dolly wouldn't come out until we coaxed her with a treat. They are so cute.

This picture looks more creepy than cute but some how to me she is still super cute!!! Dolly and Daisy were in the Dryer together and by the looks of this picture I think Daisy scared Dolly out herself.
She looks so cute when she is sleeping!!!!

This is us trying to have family scripture study and the dogs really wanted to be apart of it. So now we let them have family home evening with us to!!!!

Our crazy Dogs

Jacob loves to play with the dogs and sometimes he torments them. He has a good time with them so I guess that is all that matters. We let the dogs out in the house for a little while and Jacob decided to gate them into our front room. Daisy doesn't mind because she just goes right under the gate but the other two haven't figured it out yet. Jacob goes in the kitchen to get them food and they all know the word food, when you say it there heads shoot up and they charge for the kitchen. They also know the sound of when food is coming. So here they are trying to get to the food.

Dash has learned the sooner he sits the sooner he gets fed, this is his attempt to behave while Dolly goes nuts overing hearing the food hit her bowl.

Poor guys Daddy just won't let them in to eat.

So after he gets them all excited and they are barking and just wanting to eat, I guess that is when Jacob wants them to be calm. One day he will learn he can't get them all excited and then just make them hush right after but he sure does try, to bad it doesn't work.

Dash use to just jump over the gate but one time he knocked it down and it made really loud noises and fell on him so now I think he is scared to do it anymore. And Dolly she use to actually climb over the gates but I don't know what happened to her but she hasn't done it lately.

Does anyone Picnic anymore???

We have been looking everywhere for a picinic basket but it seems that no one picnics anymore. We searched like every store here but no one carries them. Everyone told us after Memorial Day they would have some. NOPE, nobody had any. So we decided to piece one together ourselves and it works just as well!!!

We were having beautiful weather so we decided one day to take our family home evening to the park and also enjoy our scripture study there as well. It was very peaceful and beautiful and not to many bugs!!!! We had to walk a little bit to get to a nice grassy area but it turned out to be really nice. There were some waterfalls and flower gardens just to the left of us which of course I don't have a picture of but it was a good time.

All we had this time was some bread, cheese and fruit so it was a light snack which ended up being dinner because by the time we got home we needed to get to sleep, I have to be at work at 4:45 in the morning so I need my rest!!!!!

Shenandoah Caverns

While we were on vacation we took the opportunity to tour the Shenandoah Caverns, the same guy who owns the caverns also collects parade floats. So with your tour of the caverns you also got free admission into the three other places right there on the property so it was well worth the trip.

The cavern tour was really nice. They would take you into a room with barely any light and then all at once turn the lights on and it was amazing. We had such a good time and the pictures don't do justice. The one thing they kept pointing out to us is that they were known for having the most realistic looking bacon. Here are some pictures of the bacon and also some other rooms in the caverns.

This is a picture of the bacon and it was in almost all of the rooms of the caverns. Unfortunately the largest piece they had was ruined because of people breaking it off.

We both liked this spot because on the left side of the picture the little spots of water, the dividers we built by the minerals in the water and we just thought it looked cool, the pictures aren't as cool though.

This one is cool because in many many years from now the bif rock on the bottom and the one on the top will form into one and it will be the largest formation in the caverns. But it is a long ways away.

You can see a little bit of it, but this is the only reflection pool in the caverns. They called it the reflecting city. This was in the very back of the caverns and only three people could look at a time cause the room was so small. When you went in it was totally dark and then they would turn the lights on and they had all different colors and it was just beautiful.

This was cool because if you look you can see little specs of glitter and it was all up and down the formation. They again had different color lights and they stood out differently with each color. We also learned that it takes 120 years for these formations to grown just one inch either up or down. So this one has been there for sometime now!!

Now onto the parade floats there was a big building that housed all of them and there were a couple you could get in so we took the opportunity, I had to run really fast to make it into the picture but I think it turned out okay!!! It was so much fun we had a blast!!

You can barley see us but this is the one I had to run up the stairs and around two corners in ten seconds to get in the shot. Phew I think I barley made it!!!

We hadn't even made it into the building and I was already having a great time. I think I need to grown a few more feet to measure up!!!

Does this show how huge this was, I think I had to even cut some off.

Vacation

I finally am able to post pictures again. So here is what the crazy Brown family has been up to.

Jacob and I were able to take a short vacation to the Shenandoah Valley here in Virginia. We stayed at the Massanutten Resort. We had bought the vacation last year and finally were able to use it this year.

The car ride was okay but we were ready to get out and have some fun. While there on the resort we played some putt-putt rode some golf carts cause Jacob always thinks he is a better driver so I had to pove him wrong once and for all when I beat him on the track!!!

The best part of our stay was the views from the top of the mountain. I would like to say we hiked up, but we didn't, Jacob has never rode a chair life so we did that instead, can't say I was to sad about it though!!!! We had suck a great time the only bad part was I missed our dogs very much. I was sad they couldn't come but our neighbor took good care of them. When we got home they were very excited to see us and us them.

Dash, a beagle bassat hound mix, was the first of our new additions. He is 14 months and finally finished growing!! We found Dash right after moving to Virginia and we fell in love instantly.

Dolly, a pure bred beagle and is now just one year old. We adopted Dolly from the SPCA and soon after brought her home to meet her new brother. Jacob first saw her and he fell in love and she fit well in our little family.

Daisy, our chihuahua tea cup mix came to us in December at ten weeks old. She had an unfortunate accident when she tried to jump off the bed. She broke her growth plate and went through surgery to repair the damage. She is very cuddly and loves to play. Dash and Dolly are very protective of her and love to play with her.
